Thunderbird athletes enrolled in the BASc program may require assistance in support of their participation in UBC Athletics with registration accommodation around their practice and game schedules. Not all accommodations may be possible due to space and other constraints in the course and section.
First Year Students
The Varsity engineering timetables are designed to help first year Engineering varsity athletes avoid common varsity practice and game times. Varsity athletes must be members of UBC’s official Thunderbird Sport Clubs. Limited seats are available.
How to be registered in a Varsity Engineering Timetable
- Prior to registration Varsity athletes will be asked to complete a form about their varsity schedule. EAS will do our best to support late requests, but they are not guaranteed.
- EAS will send you a confirmation email to let you know which engineering timetable you have been registered in.
- At your registration appointment, please self-register WRDS 150B and a humanities elective, avoiding sections that conflict with your engineering timetable.
How to request section switches
For first year Engineering courses, EAS will do our best to support section switches to accommodate varsity practice and game schedules. Not all accommodations may be possible due to space and other constraints in the course and section.
Follow these steps to request section switches for first year Engineering courses:
- Write a list of each section that conflicts with your practice schedule
- For each one, use the UBC Course Schedule or the Find Course Sections Report in Workday Student to find a section that doesn’t conflict with your schedule and write it down
- Example: Drop PHYS 157 101, add PHYS 157 102
- Fill out one section switch request form for each section you are requesting to switch
