Course Conflict Information for IGEN 430

Course conflict requests for IGEN 430 are typically reviewed on the first day of class by the course instructors. Students will be required to review and agree to a message about IGEN 430 time commitments (see below) before the course conflict will be approved.

Registration advice: Students should proceed with registration into all other courses in July and leave IGEN 430 as their final unregistered course. Registration into IGEN 430 can be completed at the start of Term in September, after the course conflict is approved by the course instructors.

For the first 3-4 weeks of the course, the IGEN 430 canvas site will be open, so students do not need to be registered in the course to see its contents and participate.

Guidance from IGEN 430 Instructors on Course Conflicts

  • For IGEN 430, there is a 20-minute meeting with each group.  As long as your meeting timeslot does not have a conflict, you can take the other course.
  • The only time all students are required to be present in the class is for the group presentations – typically two times per Term.

The course conflict is approved only if you understand and accept that:

  1. You will make the necessary arrangements so that your group will meet with the instructors in a time slot that is available outside of the other courses that you have conflicts with but still within IGEN 430’s allocated time (Wednesdays, 12-3:30 PM).
  2. You will attend the group presentations for IGEN 430. This means you may have to miss two lectures for your other course.

If you agree with these conditions, the IGEN 430 instructors will approve the conflict. You are welcome to email the course instructors if there are any circumstances which do not line up with the description above.

Timeline for next steps

  • Course Conflict forms will be processed for IGEN 430 students during the first week of September, if the criteria described above is met.
  • Students should bring their course conflict form to the first IGEN 430 class.
