In some cases, eligible students may be provided the opportunity to take a supplemental exam if they have failed a suppable course and meet all Supplemental exam conditions, per the Faculty’s Supplemental Exam Policy.
If a student is eligible for a Supplemental exam:
- Engineering Academic Services will send an email notification of eligibility. Students can expect to receive the email in January for Term 1 courses; in May for Term 2 courses.
- The Supplemental exam will be written during UBC’s Standing Deferred/Supplemental Exam period in middle of July to early August.
- Students will need to apply to write the Supplemental exam through Enrolment Services; information and instructions on how to apply will be sent to students the email notifying them of their Supplemental exam eligibility.
- If the Supplemental exam is written, the course will appear on a student’s transcript twice; the first entry will show the student’s final grade in the course with no Supplemental exam written; the second entry is written as SUPL_V course with Pass or Fail grade.
Questions about Supplemental exams can be directed to Engineering Academic Services.
